Padley Gorge, Peak District

Padley Gorge is located near Grindleford in the High Peak area of the Peak District. I visited for the first time as a young child and have been returning for almost 30 years. Although my memory of that first experience is faint, I do remember being in awe of the place. As such, I visited to make some of my first real photographs as a GCSE Art student for my black and white tree study project.

Since reuniting myself with the camera in 2005, I’ve been returning to Padley Gorge ever since. This is an ongoing project and I don’t foresee it ever ending, such is the majesty of the place. Through this series of images, I have tried to capture the feeling of being there – I hope you enjoy the series.
